Nezihe Muhiddin

Nezihe Muhiddin, born in 1889, emerged as a formidable force in the Turkish women's rights movement during the tumultuous era of the 20th century Ottoman Empire. As a pioneering activist, she dedicated her life to advocating for women's political rights, particularly following the establishment of the republican regime in Turkey. Her efforts positioned her as a leading figure among the First Wave Republican feminists, where she championed the cause of gender equality.

In 1923, Nezihe Muhiddin made history by founding the Women's People's Party (KHF), marking a significant milestone as the first political party in Turkey. This groundbreaking achievement underscored her commitment to empowering women and ensuring their voices were heard in the political arena. Additionally, she served as the president of the Women's Union from 1924 to 1927, further solidifying her role as a key leader in the fight for women's rights.

Beyond her political endeavors, Nezihe was a prolific writer, contributing to the cultural landscape of Turkey with her literary works. She authored twenty novels, three hundred stories, plays, screenplays, and operettas, showcasing her versatility and passion for storytelling.
