Ni Yulan

Ni Yulan, born on March twenty-four, nineteen sixty-one, is a prominent human rights defender and lawyer in the People's Republic of China. Renowned for her unwavering commitment to civil rights, she has dedicated her career to providing legal aid to marginalized groups, including Falun Gong practitioners and victims of forced evictions.

Throughout her journey, Ni has faced significant personal sacrifices, enduring multiple arrests, three prison sentences, and severe torture as a consequence of her courageous legal battles against the Chinese government. Her relentless pursuit of justice led to the revocation of her law license by Chinese authorities, a testament to the risks she has taken in her advocacy.

In recognition of her extraordinary efforts, Ni Yulan was honored with the Human Rights Tulip by the Dutch government in two thousand eleven. Furthermore, in two thousand sixteen, she received the International Women of Courage Award from the United States Department of State, highlighting her impact and resilience in the face of adversity.
