Nichelle Nichols

Nichelle Nichols, born on December 28, 1932, in Robbins, Illinois, was a pioneering American actress, singer, and dancer. She is best known for her groundbreaking role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura in the iconic television series Star Trek and its subsequent film sequels.
