Nicholas Latifi, born on June twenty-ninth, nineteen ninety-five, is a Canadian former racing driver who made his mark in Formula One from two thousand twenty to two thousand twenty-two. Hailing from Montreal and raised in Toronto, he is the son of Iranian-Canadian billionaire businessman Michael Latifi.
Latifi's journey in motorsport began in two thousand twelve when he transitioned from karting to junior formulae, debuting in the Italian Formula Three Championship. His notable performance came in the two thousand thirteen British International Series, where he secured a fifth-place finish with Carlin.
In two thousand fourteen, Latifi entered the GP2 Series, achieving a full-time drive with DAMS in two thousand sixteen. After four seasons in GP2, now known as the FIA Formula 2 Championship, he finished as the runner-up to Nyck de Vries in two thousand nineteen.
Latifi's Formula One career commenced in two thousand twenty when he signed with Williams, partnering with George Russell. He made his debut at the Austrian Grand Prix, finishing in eleventh place. Despite a challenging season with the FW43, he celebrated his first points finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix in two thousand twenty-one, repeating this success in Belgium. Retaining his seat for two thousand twenty-two, he concluded his F1 journey after finishing ninth at the rain-affected Japanese Grand Prix, ultimately being replaced by Logan Sargeant at the end of the season.
