Nick Sibbeston

Nick G. Sibbeston, born on November 21, 1943, is a distinguished Canadian politician and lawyer, whose career has significantly shaped the political landscape of the Northwest Territories. He served as the fourth premier of the Northwest Territories from 1985 to 1987, a pivotal role that marked the beginning of his influential political journey.

His political career continued to flourish as he became a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Mackenzie-Laird, serving two terms from 1970 to 1975 and again from 1979 until 1991. Sibbeston's dedication to public service and his constituents was evident throughout his tenure in the Legislative Assembly.

In 1999, Sibbeston was appointed as a Senator representing the Northwest Territories, a position he held until his resignation in 2017, coinciding with his seventy-fourth birthday. His long-standing commitment to the region and its people has left a lasting legacy in Canadian politics.
