Nicolai Gedda

Harry Gustaf Nikolai Gädda, known to the world as Nicolai Gedda, was born on July 11, 1925, in Sweden. He emerged as a remarkable operatic tenor, captivating audiences with his extraordinary vocal abilities and linguistic prowess. Gedda made his professional debut in 1951, marking the beginning of a prolific career that spanned over five decades.

Throughout his illustrious journey, Gedda showcased his versatility by performing operas in a multitude of languages, including French, Russian, German, Italian, English, Czech, and Swedish, as well as a notable performance in Latin. His remarkable talent was further highlighted in January 1958 when he created the role of Anatol in the world premiere of Samuel Barber's Vanessa at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera.
