Nicolas Aubé-Kubel, born on May tenth, nineteen ninety-six, in Slave Lake, Alberta, is a talented Canadian professional ice hockey player. He currently plays as a right winger for the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL), while being under contract with the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). His journey in professional hockey began when he was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round, forty-eighth overall, during the two thousand fourteen NHL entry draft.
At the age of two, Aubé-Kubel moved with his family to Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, where he began his early hockey career. He played minor ice hockey and speed skating with local teams, showcasing his athletic prowess. His exceptional performance at the midget hockey level led to his selection as the seventh overall pick by the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) draft of two thousand twelve.
During his time with the Foreurs, Aubé-Kubel had a breakout season in two thousand fifteen, scoring eighty points and leading the team to the playoffs. He continued to excel, serving as an alternate captain in the following season. After the conclusion of the two thousand fifteen-sixteen season, he joined the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers' AHL affiliate, for the final six games. Although his first full AHL season was challenging, he improved significantly in the subsequent year, enhancing both his scoring and physical play.
Aubé-Kubel made his NHL debut in two thousand eighteen, although he was sent back to the Phantoms after just nine games. It wasn't until December two thousand nineteen that he became a regular in the Flyers' lineup. His fourth-line role proved productive during the two thousand nineteen-twenty season, but he faced challenges in the following year, marked by a high number of penalty minutes. In the early stages of the two thousand twenty-one-twenty-two season, the Flyers placed him on waivers, and he was claimed by the Colorado Avalanche, where he celebrated winning the Stanley Cup in two thousand twenty-two.
