Nigel Martyn, born on August 11, 1966, is a distinguished English football coach and former professional player renowned for his role as a goalkeeper. Currently, he serves as the goalkeeper coach for Mirandés, where he imparts his extensive knowledge and experience to aspiring players.
Martyn's illustrious playing career saw him make significant contributions in the Premier League with clubs such as Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and Everton. His journey began in the Football League with Bristol Rovers, but it was his transfer to Crystal Palace that marked a pivotal moment in his career, as he became the first goalkeeper in British football to command a transfer fee of one million pounds. During his time at Palace, he was part of the team that reached the 1990 FA Cup Final and celebrated victory in the Full Members Cup in 1991.
