Niko Kranjčar

Niko Kranjčar, born on August 13, 1984, is a distinguished Croatian former professional footballer who made his mark primarily as an attacking midfielder. His versatility allowed him to also excel as a winger and second striker, showcasing his dynamic playing style throughout his career.

Kranjčar began his professional journey with Dinamo Zagreb, but his career took a controversial turn in January 2005 when he transferred to their fierce rivals, Hajduk Split. This bold move paved the way for his subsequent transfer to England, where he joined Portsmouth in August 2006. After a successful stint, he moved to Tottenham Hotspur in September 2009, reuniting with his former manager Harry Redknapp.

In 2012, Kranjčar signed with Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv, which included a two-year loan at Queens Park Rangers, marking yet another reunion with Redknapp. He concluded his playing career with brief spells in the United States at New York Cosmos and in Scotland with Rangers, ultimately retiring in 2018.

On the international stage, Kranjčar was hailed as the next Robert Prosinečki and earned his debut under the guidance of his father, Zlatko, in August 2004. He represented Croatia in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2008, and UEFA Euro 2012, accumulating a total of eighty-one caps and scoring sixteen goals. His final appearance for the national team came on October 15, 2013, as he was sidelined from the 2014 FIFA World Cup due to a leg injury.
