Nikolay Chkheidze

Nikolay Chkheidze, born on April ninth, eighteen sixty-four, emerged as a prominent figure in Georgian politics and diplomacy. His early involvement in the Social Democratic movement during the 1890s marked the beginning of a significant political career that would see him rise to prominence within the Russian Empire.

As a leading Social Democrat, Chkheidze played a crucial role in the February Revolution, serving as the Menshevik president of the Executive Committee of the Petrograd Soviet. His leadership during this tumultuous period was instrumental in shaping the political landscape of the time.

Following the revolution, he continued to influence Georgian politics, taking on the role of president of the Transcaucasian Sejm from February to May nineteen eighteen. His commitment to democratic principles was further exemplified when he served as the parliamentary president of the Democratic Republic of Georgia from nineteen eighteen until nineteen twenty-one.
