Niloofar Rahmani

Niloofar Rahmani, born in 1992, has made history as the first female fixed-wing Air Force aviator in Afghanistan. Her remarkable journey began in a country where the skies were predominantly occupied by men, yet she broke through barriers to become a symbol of hope and resilience.

Despite facing significant challenges, including death threats directed at her family, Niloofar remained steadfast in her pursuit of becoming a pilot. Her determination and courage led her to complete her training, showcasing her unwavering commitment to her dreams and her country.

In recognition of her extraordinary achievements and contributions to women's empowerment, Niloofar was honored with the U.S. State Department's International Women of Courage Award in two thousand fifteen.
