Nimbarka

Nimbarka, a prominent philosopher of the twelfth century, is renowned for his contributions to the dualistic–non-dualistic philosophy known as Svābhāvika bhedābheda. His teachings emphasized the worship of the divine couple, Radha and Krishna, and he played a pivotal role in establishing the Nimbarka Sampradaya, a significant spiritual tradition within Hinduism.

Born in Southern India into a Telugu Brahmin family, Nimbarka's life journey led him to Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, where he spent the majority of his years. His philosophical insights and spiritual practices have left a lasting impact on the devotional landscape of India.

While it is widely accepted that Nimbarka lived during the twelfth century, some scholars have proposed that he may have existed earlier, possibly in the sixth or seventh century CE, even preceding the renowned philosopher Shankaracharya. This aspect of his life remains a topic of scholarly debate.

Occasionally, Nimbarka is conflated with another philosopher named Bhaskara; however, this identification is largely viewed as a misconception due to the distinct spiritual perspectives held by these two influential figures.
