Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Nimco Ali

Nimko Ali, a prominent British social activist of Somali descent, has dedicated her life to advocating for women's rights and ending female genital mutilation (FGM). Born around 1982, she has become a leading voice in the fight against this harmful practice, drawing from her own experiences as a survivor of FGM, which she underwent in Djibouti.

In 2019, Ali made a significant impact with the release of her first book, which features forty-two compelling stories gathered from one hundred fifty-two interviews with women across fourteen countries. This work not only highlights the personal narratives of those affected by FGM but also serves as a call to action for global change.

Later that same year, she co-founded The Five Foundation alongside Brendan Wynne, an organization committed to eradicating FGM worldwide. This role has become her primary focus, allowing her to leverage her platform to advocate for women's health and rights on a global scale.

In addition to her work with The Five Foundation, Ali co-founded the Ginsburg Women's Health Board in 2020 with Mika Simmons, further expanding her influence in women's health advocacy. Her political engagement includes contesting a seat in the 2017 general election under the Women's Equality Party and supporting the Conservative Party in 2019, where she campaigned for various candidates. In recognition of her expertise, she was appointed as an Independent Government Adviser for Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls in 2020, a position she held until 2022.
