Nino Haratischwili

Nino Haratischwili, a talented Georgian-born German writer, playwright, and theater director, has made significant contributions to contemporary literature and theater. Born on June eighth, nineteen eighty-three, in Tbilisi, Georgia, she spent her formative years in a German-language school, which laid the foundation for her future endeavors in the arts.

In the early nineteen nineties, amidst the political and social upheaval following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Haratischwili moved to Germany with her mother. This pivotal experience allowed her to attend the seventh and eighth grades in a new environment. After returning to Georgia, she eventually relocated to Germany once more to pursue her passion for drama at a prestigious school in Hamburg.

Haratischwili's career as a theater director flourished in Hamburg, where she honed her craft for several years. In two thousand ten, she published her debut novel, 'Juja,' marking the beginning of her literary journey. Her remarkable talent has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize, the Kranichsteiner Literaturpreis, and the Literaturpreis des Kulturkreises der deutschen Wirtschaft.

In two thousand twelve, she became a German citizen, further solidifying her connection to her adopted home. Today, Nino Haratischwili resides in Hamburg, where she continues to create compelling works that resonate with audiences across the globe.
