Nneka Ogwumike

Nneka Ogwumike, born on July second, nineteen ninety, is a prominent American professional basketball player currently playing for the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She made a significant impact in the league when she was drafted first overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the two thousand twelve WNBA draft, shortly after signing an endorsement deal with Nike.

Throughout her illustrious career, Ogwumike dedicated twelve seasons to the Sparks, achieving remarkable success. In two thousand sixteen, she was honored as the WNBA MVP and played a pivotal role in leading her team to victory in the WNBA Finals that same year. Hailing from a Nigerian family, Nneka's name translates to 'Mother is Supreme' in the Igbo language. Nneka's basketball journey began at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas, where she led her team to a five A State Championship during her senior year. Her collegiate career at Stanford University was equally impressive, as she helped the Cardinal reach the Final Four on four occasions.
