Ntare V of Burundi

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ntare V of Burundi

Ntare V of Burundi, born on December second, nineteen forty-seven, was a significant figure in the history of Burundi, known for his brief reign as king. Before ascending to the throne, he was recognized as Crown Prince Charles Ndizeye. His journey to power began in July nineteen sixty-six when he deposed his own father, marking a pivotal moment in the Burundian monarchy.

His reign, however, was short-lived, lasting only until November of the same year when he was overthrown by Prime Minister Michel Micombero. This coup effectively ended the monarchy in Burundi, leading Ntare V into exile. Despite his departure from the throne, his story did not conclude there.

In nineteen seventy-two, he returned to Burundi, but his hopes for a comeback were dashed when he was swiftly arrested by the republican government. That same year, during a tumultuous period known as the 'Ikiza', Ntare V met a tragic end under circumstances that remain unclear, further complicating the legacy of his brief rule.
