Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Oghul Qaimish

Oghul Qaimish, born in the year 1250, was a prominent Khatun of the Mongol Empire, known primarily as the wife of Güyük Khan, the third ruler of the empire. Her marriage to Güyük took place in the 1220s, and while she held a significant title, her involvement in political matters during his reign was minimal.

Following Güyük's death in 1248, Oghul Qaimish assumed the role of nominal regent. However, her tenure was marked by confusion and ineffectiveness, as her sons, Khoja and Naqu, often acted against her interests. This internal strife weakened her position, allowing her political adversaries, notably Batu Khan and Sorghaghtani Beki, to maneuver more effectively.

In a strategic move, Sorghaghtani Beki's son, Möngke, was elected as khan in 1250, further diminishing Oghul Qaimish's authority. Her attempts to maintain power culminated in a failed coup orchestrated by Naqu, which led to her imprisonment. Allegations of torture and a subsequent show trial resulted in her execution, marking a tragic end to her brief and tumultuous rule.
