Oleg Atkov, born on May ninth, nineteen forty-nine, is a distinguished Russian cardiologist and former Soviet cosmonaut. With a doctorate from the esteemed Russian Academy of Medical Science, Atkov was selected to serve as the health specialist aboard the Soyuz T-10 and Soyuz T-11 missions, where he contributed significantly to the understanding of human health in space.
Following his extensive time in space, Atkov returned to the Myasnikov Institute of Clinical Cardiology. There, he continued his groundbreaking research on the adaptation of weightlessness and its effects on cardiology, further solidifying his reputation in the medical community.
His remarkable contributions to science and space exploration have earned him two of the highest honors in the USSR: the Order of Lenin and the prestigious title of Hero of the Soviet Union. In addition to his research, Atkov is a professor of medicine at the Russian National Research Medical University, where he imparts his knowledge to the next generation of medical professionals.
