Oleg Kononenko

Oleg Kononenko, born on June 21, 1964, is a distinguished Russian engineer and astronaut, renowned for his remarkable contributions to space exploration. With a career spanning several decades, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the field of cosmonautics.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kononenko has completed five missions to the International Space Station (ISS). His journey began as a flight engineer on Expedition 17 aboard Soyuz TMA-12, followed by significant roles on Expeditions 30 and 31, where he served as both flight engineer and commander aboard Soyuz TMA-03M. His expertise continued to shine on Expeditions 44 and 45 with Soyuz TMA-17M, and later on Expeditions 57, 58, and 59 aboard Soyuz MS-11.

In a remarkable achievement, Kononenko broke the record for the most time spent in space on February 4, 2024, accumulating a staggering total of one thousand one hundred eleven days across his long-duration missions. This record was previously held by fellow cosmonaut Gennady Padalka, who spent eight hundred seventy-eight days in space.
