Olga Akopyan

Olga Akopyan, born on March fourth, nineteen eighty-five, is a distinguished retired Russian handball player who has transitioned into a successful coaching career. She is best known for her remarkable tenure with Lada Togliatti and her contributions to the Russian national handball team.

Throughout her illustrious playing career, Akopyan achieved significant milestones, including winning the world championship titles in two consecutive years, two thousand seven and two thousand nine. Her dedication and skill on the court culminated in an Olympic gold medal in two thousand sixteen, further solidifying her legacy in the sport.

After retiring from professional play, Akopyan took on the role of head coach for Zvezda Zvenigorod in the Russian Super League. In addition to her coaching responsibilities at the club level, she also serves as the assistant coach for the Russia women's national handball team, where she continues to influence the next generation of athletes.
