Olga Knyazeva

Olga Knyazeva, born on August ninth, nineteen fifty-four, emerged as a prominent figure in the world of fencing, representing the Soviet Union as a foil fencer. Her remarkable career was highlighted by a team gold medal victory at the 1976 Olympics, where she also secured a commendable ninth place in the individual competition.

Between nineteen seventy-three and nineteen seventy-eight, Knyazeva showcased her exceptional talent on the international stage, earning four gold and two silver medals at the world championships. Her prowess was further recognized in nineteen seventy-five when she clinched the World Cup, the European Team Cup, and the team world title, earning the title of best female fencer of the year from the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime.

Beginning her fencing journey in nineteen sixty-six, Knyazeva became a vital member of the Soviet national team from nineteen seventy-two to nineteen seventy-eight. After retiring from competitive fencing, she dedicated her expertise to coaching in Kazan and teaching physical education at the Kazan State Finance and Economics Institute.

Following her Olympic success, Knyazeva married Rafael Dubov, a childhood friend and fellow fencer who later became a coach and referee. Together, they nurtured a family of fencers, with their son Aleksandr and daughter Nina also competing in the sport.
