Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Olivier Besancenot

Olivier Besancenot, born on April eighteenth, nineteen seventy-four, is a prominent figure in the French far-left political landscape. He is known for his roles as a politician, trade unionist, and mail carrier, as well as being an author and a committed communist. Besancenot gained significant recognition as the founding main spokesperson of the New Anticapitalist Party (Nouveau parti anticapitaliste, NPA) from two thousand nine to two thousand eleven.

His political career includes notable candidacies in the French presidential elections. In two thousand two, he stood as a revolutionary socialist candidate for the Ligue communiste révolutionnaire (LCR), the French section of the Fourth International, where he garnered one point two million votes, equating to four point twenty-five percent of the total. In the first round of the two thousand seven presidential election, Besancenot received four point zero eight percent of the vote, just shy of one point five million votes, ultimately placing him fifth and eliminating him from the race.

In May two thousand eleven, Besancenot made the decision not to run in the two thousand twelve presidential election. His departure marked a significant transition for the NPA, as he was succeeded by Myriam Martin, who later left to establish Gauche Anticapitaliste (Anticapitalist Left). Christine Poupin and Philippe Poutou, who was the NPA presidential candidate in two thousand twelve, also played key roles in the party's evolution.
