Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud, born on September 30, 1986, is a distinguished French professional footballer renowned for his role as a striker. Currently, he plays for Ligue 1 club Lille and holds the prestigious title of all-time top goalscorer for the France national team.

Giroud's football journey began at his hometown club, Grenoble, before he made a significant move to Tours in 2008 at the age of twenty-one. His remarkable talent shone through when he was named Ligue 2 Player of the Year in 2010, finishing as the league's top goalscorer. This success led to a record transfer to Montpellier for a fee of two million euros, where he played a pivotal role in securing the club's first Ligue 1 title and again topped the league's scoring charts in 2012.

In 2012, Giroud joined Arsenal, where he contributed to ending the club's nine-year trophy drought by winning three FA Cups. He became the eighteenth-highest all-time goalscorer for Arsenal, solidifying his legacy at the club. His career took another turn in 2018 when he signed with Chelsea for eighteen million pounds, where he won the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Europa League, finishing as the top goalscorer in the latter competition in 2019.

After a successful stint with Chelsea, Giroud moved to AC Milan in 2021, helping the team clinch the Serie A title in the 2021–22 season, marking the end of an eleven-year league title drought. Following a year in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC, he returned to France to join Lille.

On the international stage, Giroud made his debut for the France national team in 2011 at the age of twenty-five. Over his career, he has earned 137 caps and participated in seven major tournaments. He is celebrated as his country's all-time top goalscorer, receiving the Bronze Boot as the joint second-highest goalscorer during France's runner-up finish at UEFA Euro 2016. Giroud's crowning achievement came in 2018 when he helped France secure the FIFA World Cup title, and he again showcased his talent by finishing as a runner-up in the 2022 World Cup, where he received the Bronze Boot once more.
