Om Birla

Om Birla, born on December fourth, nineteen sixty-two, is a prominent Indian politician hailing from Rajasthan. He has made significant contributions to Indian politics, currently serving as the seventeenth Speaker of the Lok Sabha since his initial election to this esteemed position in June two thousand nineteen.

Re-elected for a second term on June twenty-six, two thousand twenty-four, Birla has distinguished himself as a dedicated Member of Parliament for the Kota constituency since two thousand fourteen. His recent re-election marks a notable achievement, as he became the first individual in twenty years to be re-elected to the lower house after serving as Speaker, and one of only two MPs to hold the Speaker's position twice.

Before his tenure in the Lok Sabha, Birla represented the Kota South Assembly constituency in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from two thousand three to two thousand fourteen. A member of the Bhartiya Janata Party, he successfully won the two thousand twenty-four Lok Sabha Speaker Election as a candidate of the National Democratic Alliance.
