Om Yun-chol, born on November eighteenth, nineteen ninety-one, is a distinguished retired weightlifter and coach from North Korea. He has made a significant mark in the world of weightlifting, having competed in the fifty-six kilogram category until two thousand eighteen, after which he transitioned to the fifty-five kilogram category following the reorganization of weight classes by the International Weightlifting Federation.
Standing at one hundred fifty-two centimeters, or five feet tall, and weighing fifty-five kilograms, Om represents the Amnokgang Sports Team. His remarkable achievements include being an Olympic Champion and a five-time World Champion, showcasing his dominance in the sport.
Om is renowned for his extraordinary strength, being the fourth man in history to lift over three times his bodyweight in the clean and jerk multiple times. He first broke the world record in this discipline with a lift of one hundred sixty-nine kilograms during the Asian Interclub Championships. He has since repeated this incredible feat three additional times at prestigious events, including the two thousand fourteen Asian Games, the two thousand fifteen World Weightlifting Championships, and the two thousand sixteen Summer Olympics.
In international competition, he is recognized as the sixth man to achieve at least triple his bodyweight in the clean and jerk, accomplishing this remarkable feat seven times.
