Omar Sharmarke

Omar Sharmarke, born on June 18, 1960, is a prominent Somali diplomat and politician known for his significant contributions to the political landscape of Somalia.

His political journey reached a notable peak when he served as the Prime Minister of Somalia from 2009 to 2010. During this time, he worked tirelessly to navigate the complexities of governance in a nation facing numerous challenges.

In 2014, Sharmarke briefly took on the role of Somalia's Ambassador to the United States, further solidifying his diplomatic credentials. Later that same year, he was reappointed as Prime Minister, a position he held until March 1, 2017, when he was succeeded by Hassan Ali Khaire.
