Onofre Marimón

Onofre Marimón, born on December twenty-third, nineteen twenty-three, was a prominent Argentine racing driver known for his remarkable contributions to the world of motorsport. His career spanned several thrilling years, during which he competed in Formula One at twelve Grands Prix from nineteen fifty-one to nineteen fifty-four.

Marimón's prowess on the track was evident as he achieved two podium finishes, notably at the nineteen fifty-three Belgian Grand Prix and the nineteen fifty-four British Grand Prix. Throughout his Formula One career, he accumulated a total of eight and one-seventh championship points while driving for Maserati. His talent was further showcased when he clinched victory at the non-championship nineteen fifty-four Rome Grand Prix, steering the iconic Maserati 250F.

Tragically, Marimón's life was cut short during practice for the nineteen fifty-four German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. In a devastating accident, he lost control of his Maserati 250F, resulting in a fatal rollover after impacting a ditch. This incident marked him as the first fatality in the history of Formula One Grands Prix, a somber milestone that underscored the inherent dangers of the sport.
