Orel Hershiser

Orel Hershiser, born on September sixteenth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished former baseball pitcher who graced Major League Baseball (MLB) for an impressive eighteen seasons from nineteen eighty-three to two thousand. His journey began at Cherry Hill High School East and continued at Bowling Green State University, where his talent caught the attention of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who drafted him in nineteen seventy-nine.

Hershiser made his major league debut with the Dodgers in nineteen eighty-three, quickly establishing himself as a formidable player. Over his career, he was honored as a three-time All-Star and consistently ranked among the top five in Cy Young voting during his first six full seasons. His pinnacle came in nineteen eighty-eight, a year that saw him set a major league record by pitching fifty-nine consecutive innings without allowing a run. This remarkable achievement helped propel the Dodgers to victory in the World Series, where he was named both the National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player and the World Series MVP, alongside winning the NL Cy Young Award and an NL Gold Glove Award.

After twelve successful seasons with the Dodgers, Hershiser continued his career with the Cleveland Indians, San Francisco Giants, and New York Mets, before returning to Los Angeles for his final season.
