Oribasius

Oribasius, a distinguished Greek medical writer, was born in the year three hundred twenty-five. His journey in medicine began at the renowned city of Alexandria, where he studied under the esteemed physician Zeno of Cyprus. This foundational education equipped him with the knowledge and skills that would later define his career.

His professional life took a significant turn when he became the personal physician to the Roman emperor Julian. Oribasius played a crucial role in Julian's coronation in the year three hundred sixty-one, marking the beginning of a close association that would last until the emperor's untimely death in three hundred sixty-three.

Following Julian's demise, Oribasius faced a period of exile, as he was banished to foreign courts. However, his expertise and reputation eventually led to his recall by the emperor Valens, allowing him to continue his contributions to medicine and literature.
