Orso Ipato

Orso Ipato, a pivotal figure in Venetian history, served as the third Doge of Venice from seven hundred twenty-six to seven hundred thirty-seven. His tenure marked a significant transformation in the Venetian navy, establishing it as a formidable force in the Mediterranean.

During his eleven-year reign, Ipato played a crucial role in the recapture of Ravenna from the Lombard invaders, showcasing his military acumen and dedication to the protection of Venetian interests. His efforts not only fortified the city but also enhanced its strategic importance in the region.
