Oscar Brand

Oscar Brand, born on February seventh, nineteen twenty, was a Canadian-born American folk singer-songwriter, radio and television host, and author. His remarkable career spanned an impressive seventy years, during which he composed over three hundred songs and released nearly one hundred albums. His repertoire included a diverse range of music, from novelty songs to serious social commentary, and he contributed significantly to both Canadian and American patriotic music.

Brand was perhaps best known for his long-standing role as the host of a weekly folk music show on WNYC Radio in New York City. This show is recognized as the longest-running radio program with a single host in broadcasting history, a testament to his enduring popularity and dedication to folk music. In addition to his radio work, he hosted the televised folk concert series, Let's Sing Out!, in Canada from nineteen sixty-three to nineteen sixty-seven, showcasing both Canadian and U.S. folk stars of the era.
