Oscar Schmidt, born on February 16, 1958, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, is a legendary figure in the world of basketball. Standing tall and weighing one hundred nine kilograms, Schmidt's impressive stature complemented his remarkable skills on the court. His career spanned an astonishing twenty-nine years, during which he became renowned for his scoring prowess.

Schmidt's basketball journey took him beyond Brazil, as he showcased his talents in Italy with JuveCaserta and Pavia, and in Spain with Fórum Valladolid. He is celebrated as the all-time leading scorer in basketball history, amassing forty-nine thousand nine hundred seventy-three career points across professional club league play and senior national team competitions. This record stood until it was surpassed by LeBron James on April 2, 2024.

In addition to his scoring records, Schmidt holds the distinction of being the top scorer in both the Summer Olympic Games and the FIBA World Cup.
