Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Otoya Yamaguchi

Otoya Yamaguchi, born on February twenty-second, nineteen forty-three, emerged as a controversial figure in Japan's political landscape. A student and activist, he became known for his extreme right-wing ultranationalist views, which ultimately led him to commit a shocking act of violence.

On October twelfth, nineteen sixty, during a televised election debate at Hibiya Public Hall in Tokyo, Yamaguchi, then just seventeen years old, assassinated Inejirō Asanuma, the chairman of the Japan Socialist Party. Armed with a wakizashi-like short sword, he rushed the stage and fatally stabbed Asanuma, an act that would resonate throughout Japanese society.

Prior to the assassination, Yamaguchi had been affiliated with the far-right Greater Japan Patriotic Party, although he had resigned from the organization earlier that year. Following his arrest and subsequent interrogation, he tragically took his own life while in detention, cementing his status as a martyr among far-right groups in Japan.

Yamaguchi's actions sparked a wave of admiration from extremist factions, leading to ongoing commemorations in his honor as of twenty twenty-two. His violent act inspired several copycat crimes, including the Shimanaka incident in nineteen sixty-one, and influenced notable literary works, such as Kenzaburō Ōe's novellas 'Seventeen' and 'Death of a Political Youth.' A photograph capturing the moment of the assassination, taken by Yasushi Nagao, earned the prestigious World Press Photo of the Year for nineteen sixty and the Pulitzer Prize in nineteen sixty-one.
