Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Otto Warmbier

Otto Warmbier was an American university student born on December twelfth, nineteen ninety-four. He became widely known for his tragic imprisonment in North Korea, which began during a guided tour on December twenty-ninth, two thousand fifteen. His journey took a dark turn when he was arrested at Pyongyang International Airport on January second, two thousand sixteen, accused of attempting to steal a propaganda poster from his hotel.

In March two thousand sixteen, Warmbier was sentenced to fifteen years of hard labor for his alleged crime. Shortly after his sentencing, he suffered a severe neurological injury of unknown origin, leading to a coma that lasted until his death. North Korean authorities did not reveal the severity of his condition until June two thousand seventeen, attributing it to botulism and a sleeping pill.

After seventeen months in captivity, Warmbier was released in June two thousand seventeen, arriving back in the United States on June thirteenth. He was immediately taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for urgent medical evaluation. Unfortunately, he never regained consciousness and passed away on June nineteenth, just six days after his return, following his parents' decision to remove his feeding tube.

A coroner's report indicated that Warmbier died from an unknown injury that caused a lack of oxygen to the brain, with no signs of skull fractures found in non-invasive scans. In two thousand eighteen, a U.S. federal court held the North Korean government liable for Warmbier's alleged torture and death, issuing a default judgment in favor of his parents after North Korea failed to contest the case.
