Palermo Stone

The Palermo Stone stands as a remarkable fragment of the Royal Annals of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, a stele that chronicles the reigns of Egyptian kings from the First Dynasty, approximately three thousand one hundred fifty to two thousand eight hundred ninety BCE, through to the early Fifth Dynasty, around two thousand four hundred ninety-eight to two thousand three hundred forty-five BCE.

Believed to have been crafted during the Fifth Dynasty, the Palermo Stone is one of only seven surviving pieces of this significant historical artifact. It meticulously records notable events that occurred during each king's reign, providing invaluable insights into the political and cultural landscape of ancient Egypt.

Currently housed in the Regional Archeological Museum Antonio Salinas in Palermo, Italy, the stone derives its name from this very location.
