Panagiotis Poulitsas

Panagiotis Poulitsas, born on 9 September 1881 in Geraki, Laconia, was a distinguished Greek politician, archaeologist, and judge. His career was marked by a brief yet significant tenure as the interim Prime Minister of Greece from 4 to 18 April 1946, a period that coincided with the tumultuous aftermath of the 31 March elections and the resurgence of the Greek Civil War.

In addition to his political endeavors, Poulitsas was deeply committed to the field of archaeology. In 1947, he became a member of the Archaeological Society of Athens, further solidifying his contributions to Greek heritage. His dedication to academia was recognized when he was elected president of the Academy of Athens in 1954, a testament to his influence and respect within the scholarly community.

Poulitsas's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; he was also the maternal grandfather of the renowned author and playboy Taki Theodoracopulos. His life came to a close in Athens on 16 January 1968, at the age of eighty-six, leaving behind a rich tapestry of contributions to both politics and archaeology.
