Paolo Lucio Anafesto

Paolo Lucio Anafesto is often regarded as the first Doge of Venice, a title he allegedly held from six hundred ninety-seven to seven hundred seventeen. His legacy is primarily chronicled by John the Deacon, a Venetian historian, whose accounts, while influential, are not corroborated by contemporary sources.
