Paolo Nespoli

Paolo Nespoli, born on April sixth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a distinguished Italian astronaut and engineer associated with the European Space Agency (ESA). His remarkable journey into the cosmos began in two thousand seven when he served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery during the STS-120 mission.

In December two thousand ten, Nespoli embarked on his second spaceflight, this time aboard the Soyuz TMA-20 spacecraft, where he fulfilled the role of flight engineer for Expedition twenty-six and twenty-seven. His third venture into space occurred in July two thousand seventeen, when he launched on Soyuz MS-05 for Expedition fifty-two and fifty-three.

Notably, Nespoli held the title of the European Space Agency's oldest active astronaut until his retirement in two thousand nineteen. His diverse background also includes being an amateur radio operator and a paratrooper, showcasing his multifaceted skills and interests.
