Paolo Soleri

Paolo Soleri, born on June twenty-first, nineteen nineteen, was a visionary American architect and urban planner whose work transcended traditional boundaries. He is best known for founding the Cosanti Foundation and the innovative urban community of Arcosanti, which embodies his unique philosophy of integrating architecture with ecological principles.

As a lecturer at the College of Architecture at Arizona State University, Soleri inspired countless students with his groundbreaking ideas. His concept of 'arcology'—a fusion of architecture and ecology—reflects his belief in creating sustainable, democratic societies. This innovative approach earned him recognition, culminating in the prestigious National Design Award in two thousand six.

Throughout his life, Soleri authored several influential books, including 'The Bridge Between Matter & Spirit is Matter Becoming Spirit' and 'Arcology – City In the Image of Man,' which further elucidated his vision for a harmonious relationship between human habitats and the natural environment.

Paolo Soleri passed away peacefully at home on April ninth, two thousand thirteen, at the age of ninety-three, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire architects, urban planners, and environmentalists around the world.
