Park Sung-soo

Park Sung-soo, born on May 19, 1970, was a distinguished South Korean archer who left an indelible mark on the sport. He gained international acclaim during the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, where he showcased his exceptional talent by winning a gold medal as part of the South Korean archery team. In addition to this team success, Park also earned an individual silver medal, solidifying his status as one of the top archers of his time.

After his illustrious competitive career, Park transitioned into coaching in the year 2000. His expertise and passion for archery led him to mentor several athletes, including the notable Oh Jin Hyek. Park's commitment to the sport continued as he took on the role of head coach for the Korean national team, preparing them for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Tragically, Park Sung-soo was found dead on August 27, 2025, at the age of fifty-five. His legacy as an Olympic champion and a dedicated coach remains a source of inspiration for future generations of archers.
