Parveen Babi

Parveen Babi was a prominent Indian actress and model, celebrated for her contributions to Hindi cinema during the 1970s and 1980s. Born into the illustrious Babi Dynasty on April 4, 1954, she pursued her education at St. Xavier's College before embarking on a modeling career in 1971. Her acting debut came two years later with the film Charitra, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the film industry.

Rising to fame in the mid-1970s, Babi captivated audiences with her performances in several blockbuster films, including Majboor and Deewaar. Over her illustrious career, she appeared in more than seventy films, solidifying her status as one of the highest-paid actresses of her time. Notably, she was the first Bollywood star to grace the cover of Time magazine, a testament to her influence and popularity.

Throughout her career, Babi was known for her glamorous acting style and fashion sense, often being referred to as a sex symbol in the media. Her filmography includes iconic titles such as Kaala Sona, Amar Akbar Anthony, Suhaag, Kaala Patthar, Shaan, Kranti, Kaalia, and Namak Halaal. Her final film, Irada, was released in 1991, after which she chose to retire from the film industry.

Babi's personal life was often in the spotlight, marked by a series of high-profile relationships with notable figures such as Danny Denzongpa, Kabir Bedi, and Mahesh Bhatt. She faced significant challenges, including a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, which became public knowledge following various incidents. On January 20, 2005, she passed away at the age of fifty in her Mumbai apartment, with an autopsy revealing that organ failure and diabetes were the causes of her untimely death.
