Pascal Dupuis, born on April seventh, nineteen seventy-nine, is a distinguished Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional winger. Hailing from Laval, Quebec, he began his journey in hockey with the Laval Régents before being drafted by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. His early career was marred by a leg fracture that prevented him from being selected in the NHL draft, but he persevered and eventually made a name for himself with the Huskies and the Shawinigan Cataractes, where he achieved career-highs in goals, assists, and points.
In two thousand, after an impressive training camp, Dupuis signed with the Minnesota Wild, marking the start of his fifteen-season tenure in the NHL. He made his debut on April second, two thousand one, and quickly became a key player for the Wild until two thousand seven, when he was traded to the New York Rangers. His journey continued with the Atlanta Thrashers, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s first and only postseason appearance, before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
With the Penguins, Dupuis exceeded expectations, contributing significantly to the team’s success, including their Stanley Cup victory in two thousand nine. However, health issues began to plague him from the two thousand thirteen-fourteen season onward, leading to his retirement in December two thousand fifteen. After retirement, Dupuis transitioned into coaching and player development, initially joining the Penguins organization as a part-time scout. He later took on the role of coach for his son's school hockey team, leading them to the finals of the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament Scolaire Division. In two thousand twenty, he became a co-owner and director of hockey operations for the Shawinigan Cataractes, and he currently serves as an assistant coach for the team.
