Pat Rafter

Pat Rafter, born on December 28, 1972, is a celebrated Australian former professional tennis player who made a significant mark in the world of tennis during the 1990s. Known for his powerful serve and agile play, Rafter achieved the prestigious ranking of world No. 1 in men's singles for one week in 1999, showcasing his exceptional talent on the court.

Throughout his career, Rafter secured eleven ATP Tour-level singles titles, including two major victories at the US Open in 1997 and 1998. His prowess extended to doubles, where he reached world No. 6 and won ten titles, highlighted by a major win at the 1999 Australian Open alongside partner Jonas Björkman.

Rafter's remarkable achievements include being the first man in the Open Era to triumph at the Canada Masters, Cincinnati Masters, and the US Open in the same year, a feat that has only been matched by Andy Roddick and Rafael Nadal. Additionally, he was a runner-up at Wimbledon in both 2000 and 2001, further solidifying his status as one of the sport's greats.

In a testament to his versatility, Rafter is one of only three men in the Open Era to reach at least the semifinals of every major in both singles and doubles, a distinction he shares with legends Rod Laver and Stefan Edberg. To this day, he remains the last man to achieve this remarkable feat.
