Pat Smear

Georg Albert Ruthenberg, known to the world as Pat Smear, was born on August 5, 1959. He is an influential American musician celebrated for his contributions as a guitarist and singer-songwriter. Smear's musical journey began in the vibrant punk scene of Los Angeles, where he co-founded the iconic band The Germs, serving as their lead guitarist.

In 1993, Smear joined the legendary band Nirvana as a touring guitarist, contributing to their groundbreaking sound during a pivotal time in music history. Following the tragic disbandment of Nirvana after the death of frontman Kurt Cobain, drummer Dave Grohl formed the Foo Fighters, inviting Smear to join as a rhythm guitarist.

Pat Smear's tenure with the Foo Fighters has been marked by significant milestones. Although he initially left the band in 1997, he returned in 2005 as a touring guitarist and was promoted to a full-time member in 2010, solidifying his place in the band's legacy.
