Patriarch Pavle I

Patriarch Pavle I, a significant figure in Serbian history, served as the Archbishop of Peć and held the esteemed title of Serbian Patriarch from nineteen ninety to two thousand nine. His leadership spanned nearly two decades, during which he played a crucial role in guiding the Serbian Orthodox Church through a period of profound change and challenge.

Before his tenure as Patriarch, Pavle of Smederevo emerged as a notable ecclesiastical leader in the early sixteenth century. He was recognized as the self-proclaimed Serbian Patriarch from approximately fifteen twenty-seven until fifteen forty-one, marking an important chapter in the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
