Patricia Hy-Boulais

Patricia Hy-Boulais, born on August 22, 1965, is a former professional tennis player who made her mark in the sport during the late 1980s and early 1990s. She turned professional on October 12, 1986, and initially represented Hong Kong until the end of the 1987 season. In 1991, she became a Canadian citizen and began representing Canada from the start of the 1988 season.

Hy-Boulais achieved her best Grand Slam performance at the 1992 US Open, where she reached the quarter-finals. During this remarkable run, she defeated notable players such as Eva Švíglerová, Judith Wiesner, Jennifer Capriati, and Helena Suková, before facing the eventual champion, Monica Seles. This achievement marked a significant moment in Canadian tennis, as it would be years before another Canadian woman reached the second week of the French Open.

In addition to her Grand Slam success, Hy-Boulais represented Canada at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was eliminated in the second round by top seed Monica Seles. Her highest ranking on the WTA Tour came on March 8, 1993, when she reached the number twenty-eight position in the world.

Beyond her own career, Patricia is also the mother of Isabelle, a promising young tennis player who is recognized as a top prospect in Canada, continuing the legacy of excellence in the sport.
