Patrick Gaillard, born on February twelfth, nineteen fifty-two, is a former racing driver hailing from France. His journey in motorsport began with notable performances in French Formula Renault and Formula 3, which paved the way for his entry into the competitive world of Formula 2 in nineteen seventy-nine.
That same year, Gaillard made his Formula One debut with the Ensign team, driving the Ensign N179. Unfortunately, the car's performance was subpar, leading to struggles on the track, including failing to qualify for three out of five races. His time with Ensign was short-lived, as he was replaced by Marc Surer.
In nineteen eighty, Gaillard returned to Ensign for the Spanish Grand Prix, where he managed to finish in sixth place. However, this result, which would have earned him championship points, was rendered null due to the race being downgraded to non-Championship status amidst the FISA–FOCA war.
Following his stint in Formula One, Gaillard continued his racing career in Formula 2, CanAm, and sports cars, including participation in the prestigious twenty-four hours of Le Mans. After a successful career on the track, he transitioned into a role as a racing instructor, sharing his expertise with aspiring drivers.
