Patrick Gilmore

Patrick Gilmore, born on December twenty-fifth in the year eighteen twenty-nine, was an influential Irish-born American composer and military bandmaster. After relocating to the United States in eighteen forty-eight, he made significant contributions to the musical landscape of his time.

One of his most notable achievements was penning the lyrics to the iconic song 'When Johnny Comes Marching Home,' which he published under the pseudonym Louis Lambert in September eighteen sixty-three.
