Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Paul Biya

Paul Biya, born on February thirteenth, nineteen thirty-three, is a prominent Cameroonian politician who has held the position of the second president of Cameroon since nineteen eighty-two. His political journey began under President Ahmadou Ahidjo, where he served as the fifth prime minister from nineteen seventy-five to nineteen eighty-two. Biya's rise in the political arena was marked by his rapid ascent as a bureaucrat, culminating in his role as Secretary-General of the Presidency from nineteen sixty-eight to nineteen seventy-five.

Upon Ahidjo's unexpected resignation in nineteen eighty-two, Biya took over the presidency and swiftly consolidated his power through a staged coup between nineteen eighty-three and nineteen eighty-four, eliminating major rivals in the process. His leadership style has often been characterized as authoritarian, and he is widely regarded as a dictator. At the age of ninety-three, he stands as the oldest current head of state globally and is the second-longest-ruling president in Africa, following Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea.

Throughout his presidency, Biya has introduced political reforms within a one-party system, later yielding to the pressures of multiparty politics in the early nineteen nineties. Despite these reforms, his regime has been marked by allegations of electoral fraud and irregularities. He won the contentious presidential election in nineteen ninety-two with a plurality of forty percent and has since been re-elected in nineteen ninety-seven, two thousand four, two thousand eleven, two thousand eighteen, and is expected to run again in two thousand twenty-five. Each of these elections has been marred by accusations of manipulation and systemic fraud, as documented by both domestic and international observers.
