Paul Cameron

Paul Cameron, born on November ninth, nineteen thirty-nine, is an American psychologist whose career has sparked considerable debate and controversy. He has held positions at various institutions, including the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he initially focused on research related to passive smoking. However, his notoriety largely stems from his contentious views on homosexuality.

In nineteen eighty-two, Cameron played a pivotal role in a successful campaign against a gay rights proposal in Lincoln, Nebraska. This victory led him to establish the Institute for the Scientific Investigation of Sexuality, which is now known as the Family Research Institute. As the chairman of FRI, he has authored numerous papers that assert unproven links between homosexuality and issues such as child sexual abuse and reduced life expectancy, claims that have faced significant criticism and have often been discredited by his peers.

His professional conduct has not gone without repercussions; in nineteen eighty-three, the American Psychological Association expelled him for failing to cooperate with an ethics investigation. Furthermore, several professional organizations, including the American Sociological Association and the Canadian Psychological Association, have issued statements condemning his misrepresentation of social science research.
